Does this award fit the responsibility you want?
Compare support responsibilities, recognition and further study without assuming promotion or registration.
Do you need Certificate III first?
No Certificate III is required by the national CHC43015 entry rules. Providers may still assess readiness or set their own admission conditions. Elective prerequisites remain separate.
How does it compare with Individual Support?
Certificate IV’s description emphasises specialised aged-service support, service planning and review, and may include limited leadership responsibility. Compare these areas with your current duties and intended role. Neither award guarantees an appointment.
Can previous learning reduce your study?
Request a unit-by-unit assessment of credit or recognition of prior learning. Bring exact transcripts and relevant evidence; work experience or a course title alone does not establish a decision.
Does it lead to nursing or a degree?
Ageing Support does not confer nursing registration. The receiving institution determines admission and credit for further study. Check the exact target course before relying on a pathway advertisement.
Which responsibilities are you comparing?
CHC33021 describes individual support under supervision and delegation, following an individualised plan. CHC43015 describes specialised aged-service support with planning, facilitating and reviewing services, and may include limited responsibility for others. Compare those responsibilities with the work you want to learn, rather than choosing by the higher number alone.
Ask each RTO to map your existing units and experience to its proposed plan. Keep the role comparison separate from any decision about credit, prerequisites or workplace hours; the course title alone settles none of those questions.
